Biography

* Online Business Entrepreneur
* Sports & Entertainment Marketing Specialist
* Creator of E-Diary™ (www.e-diary.com.au) & M-Diary®
* Personal mantra: “To make the most of life and to be the best that you can be”

Patrick is a 33-year-old business entrepreneur with a decade’s experience in sports and entertainment marketing in Australia and the UK.

Patrick’s background is mainly in horse racing and AFL football, but as the founder of Bat Parrot Marketing, he is now involved across a range of major sports including soccer, rugby and golf.

Bat Parrot’s core business is the development and management of two digital brands:

• E-Diary™ (an online application for major sporting events), and
• M-Diary® (an interactive mobile messaging application for events).

A Business Career Begins...

Graduating in 1997 with a commerce degree in strategic management from Monash University, Patrick’s first ‘real job’ was a marketing coordinator’s role with Harness Racing Victoria, where he was responsible for industry membership and venue promotions.

Three-plus years later, Patrick moved to London and scored a gig with the British Horseracing Board, the highlight of which was a hands-on involvement in ‘Discover Racing’, a £10 million campaign to promote horse racing throughout the UK.

Returning home to Melbourne two years later, Patrick teamed up with ex-AFL footballer-turned-sports manager, Rick Olarenshaw, to establish Athletes1 Racing, a division of Athletes1 sports management that represented professional jockeys.

Athletes1 Racing provided management facilities for jockeys that at the time were not in place, including assistance with financial management, health advice and general career and marketing guidance.

In 2004 during a short stint in sponsorship and corporate sales at Carlton Football Club, Patrick decided to take the plunge and put into practice an internet business idea he had conceived while in the UK.

E-DIARY is Born...

With less that $15,000 capital and a strong desire to succeed, Patrick launched an online events diary called E-DIARY.

The E-DIARY software took nearly two years to develop, test and refine; since 2006 Patrick has steadily built the business and today counts among his clients Football Federation Australia, National Rugby League, Australian Rugby Union, NZ Rugby Union, PGA of Australia and Etihad Stadium.

E-DIARY is licensed to the UK and Patrick is currently in discussions to roll out the concept in other international regions.

After Hours...

Patrick lives in Melbourne with his partner Amelia and one-year-old daughter, Jasmine.

In his spare time he sails, loves to fish, plays indoor soccer with mates and tends to a private vineyard on his family property at Lancefield, Victoria.
